Immunization Services
The most effective method to prevent the spread of communicable diseases is through immunizations. The Greendale Health Department immunization program includes outreach through school and day care immunization assessment, newborn home visits, tracking and recall systems and adult programs to assure effective immunization levels in Greendale. Public Health nurses investigate all vaccine preventable disease outbreaks to assure the safety of the entire community. For a list of immunization services offered through the Greendale Health Department. Please see the Quick Links and More Information on the left.

The American Academy of Pediatrics has excellent information on immunizations, including the recommended childhood schedule. Click here for more information.

Adult Immunizations
Tetanus/Diphtheria (Td) and (TdaP)
Protection from tetanus vaccine decreases over time. Thus, the vaccine should be administered every 8-10 years. There is also a tetanus/diphtheria formulation that contains pertussis (whooping cough) protection for ages 11 through 64.

Hepatitis B
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is spread through contact with the blood and body fluids of a person infected with the virus.  The hepatitis B vaccine can protect you from contracting HBV.  If you are at risk for HBV, contact the public health nurse at (414) 423-2110 to discuss your vaccine needs.
