Appliance/Furniture Pick-Up Pilot Program

The Department of Public Works is ‘piloting’ a new program starting April 1, 2013 that will be offered to Greendale residents only to have appliances and furniture picked-up at curbside for a fee.
The fee is $25.00 for the first item, $15.00 for each additional item picked up. Cash or checks are accepted; checks payable to The Village of Greendale. Payment must be made at the Greendale Dept. of Public works, 6351 Industrial Loop or to the serviceman at the time of pick-up.
Pick-ups will only occur Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 2:30 p.m. Appliances/furniture will be picked-up when requested. Items must be at curbside for pick-up. Please ensure that all items child safe.

Greener Yards, Cleaner Waters Workshops Announced

The Root-Pike Watershed Initiative Network, in partnership with UW-Extension, will offer six Greening Up Your Yard workshops. The workshops are free and open to the public. To register on their website go to www.rootpikewin.org or call 262-898-2055. Each workshop will feature a classroom presentation on the causes of polluted storm water runoff and the role of rain gardens, rain barrels, composting and other yard care practices to reduce polluted runoff to our streams, river and Lake Michigan. Some of the workshops also include a tour of one or more rain gardens. A rain barrel will be given away at each workshop in a free drawing. Free oak saplings will also be available, thanks to a donation from the Argosy Foundation.
75th Anniversary Event – Tailgate Party/Brewers Baseball Game

To celebrate the Village of Greendale’s 75th anniversary, the Greendale Chamber of Commerce will host a community-wide event on Sunday, May 5, which includes a tailgate party at Greendale High School followed by transportation to Miller Park to see the Milwaukee Brewers take on the St. Louis Cardinals. The tailgate party will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Greendale High School and will be held rain or shine.
Tickets for the tailgate party will be available for purchase from March 15 through April 26 at the Greendale Park and Recreation Department located in the Greendale Public Library. Ticket sale hours are Monday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with extended hours on Tuesdays until 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $5.00 each and include choice of sandwich, side salads, chips, cookie and a soft drink. Cash or checks made payable to the Greendale Chamber of Commerce will be accepted. The cost of transportation from Greendale High School to Miller Park will be provided by the Greendale Chamber of Commerce. Please note that due to State law, children under the age of 3 are not permitted to ride on the school bus. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. School Incident on December 19

At 1231 hours on December 19, 2012, the Greendale Police Department received a report of a suspicious person inside the Greendale High School, 6800 Schoolway.
The school was immediately put on “hold” for security reasons and students were kept in classrooms while Police and school personnel searched the building.
The students were released from the classrooms after the building was checked.
It was later determined that there was never any threat to the students.
