The Art Contest to select the official artwork for
the Village of Greendale’s 75th Anniversary is under
way. The theme of the contest is ‘Spirit of 75’ and
the contest is being hosted by the Greendale Library
and Library Director Gary Warren Niebuhr. The
competing artwork will be displayed in the Library
from June until August, 2012. The judging will be
conducted by well-known art professionals, and the
contest is open to anyone.
The winner of the ‘Spirit of 75’ contest will receive a prize of $500, the artwork becomes the sole property of the Village of Greendale, and the artist agrees to sign and number 300 copies. These 300 copies will be sold for $25 each to raise funds for the 75th Anniversary events, except for numbers 1 thru 10 and 75 which will be auctioned off at Village Days 2012. This Art Contest is similar to the one held in 1988 for the 50th Anniversary and the prints are still on display in homes and offices to this day. This summer the 75th Anniversary ‘Spirit of 75’ contest winner can be purchased as a companion piece.
