Annual Garden Gazing Walking Tour Set for July 9

In 1995, the Greendale Garden Gazing Club began an annual celebration featuring several gardens in the historic Village of Greendale. Since then, our walks have grown and proven to be a tremendous success as thousands of people have strolled through uniquely beautiful gardens. Join us on this special Saturday in July from 8 a.m. – noon, as we return to a portion of the historic “C” section that features the creativity of the gardeners there.

We will hold our FREE walk – rain or shine. Begin at the Gazebo in the Village Center on Broad Street, and receive your map from a Club member. Enjoy the featured and diverse gardens as you stroll leisurely and gather ideas for your own gardens. Variety, beauty, and surprises await you on this year’s walk. Homeowners will be on hand to answer your questions. Allow 1-2 hours for this self-guided tour. You’ll want to finish by 12 Noon.

This year, we will have one rest stop along the way and will furnish water. Return to the Gazebo, and visit with the GGG club members, “The Wild Ones”--Natural Landscapers, members of “The Southeastern Master Gardeners”, and members of the Wehr Nature Center. Have your child make a bio-degradable “seed packet”, ready to plant when you get home. Then, sit back and listen to our featured entertainer, Lee Kelm-- resident of Greendale-- songwriter, and guitarist.

There will be several drawings for Garden-themed baskets, overflowing with garden-themed “goodies”, and a kid's bag, along with Village Merchant surprises. Be sure to enter your name when you return to the Gazebo. You will also want to enjoy FREE popcorn from the popcorn wagon.

This is always a wonderful day for the entire family. Walk through, smell the flowers, ask questions of the homeowners and garden experts, and see the beauty of these Greendale Featured Gardens. The tour and drawing are FREE, however donations will be accepted.

Please note: Pets are NOT allowed on the tour. Bikes, strollers, and wagons are not allowed in the yards.
