Disaster Assistance from FEMA Now Available for Those Affected by July Flooding

Heavy rainfalls in Greendale resulted in upwards of 5-inches of rain falling very quickly, with periods of torrential rain on July 22, 2010. The torrential rains in Greendale, and throughout Milwaukee County, resulted in numerous flooded streets and basements.

Flood victims living in Milwaukee County or Grant County can now apply for individual assistance by calling 1-800-621-FEMA or online at www.fema.gov.

After flood victims apply for help, FEMA officials conduct home inspection. If FEMA determines that the flood victim qualifies, they will likely receive a check in the mail within two weeks. Please note that not everyone will qualify.

There is an informational meeting scheduled for September 20 at 6:30 p.m. at Marshall High School located at 4141 N 64th Street in Milwaukee.

If you are unable to attend, you are encouraged to contact FEMA at 1-800-621-FEMA or visit their website at www.fema.gov.
