How
valuable to learn from our children that one of the best things to do in life
is laugh, laugh, laugh. Our 2003 summer
reading theme taught us that even in stressful and trying times we must take
the time to appreciate the all that we have and praise all the good things that
we do.
In 2003, for the second straight year, the Library staff was challenged to provide the same or better library service without an increase in our budget. Maintaining services on a shrinking budget is a challenge faced by all government entities, but a service organization like ours struggles with the desire to provide a level of service for which we no longer have the funds to support.
And
each day, we are challenged to provide those services because the public still
requests a level of services from our library that challenges our staff each
day. Adopting new strategies to provide
that service has become a way of life in our library.
The
staff of the Greendale Public Library is committed to providing the best
service it can and it is our hope that every resident will take advantage of
the opportunities provided by a free and accessible public library.
Sincerely,
Gary
Warren Niebuhr
