Town Hall Meeting 2006 31
The
Greendale Public Library spent another year expanding its services to the residents. Once again residents were able to take
advantage of all the services of the Library on a daily basis including
circulation, technical, adult and youth.
The Library extended its on-line resources offer to the residents in
their homes. In addition, the Library
provided class visit hosting throughout the year, Family Storytimes on the
first Wednesday of each month, Spring and Fall Lapsitters and Storytime
sessions, a Summer Reading Program, a Gazebo storytime, the Milwaukee Buck Read
to Achieve Program for young adults, Foundation and Friends of the Library
programs, Teen-Read-O-Rama, homebound delivery services, and a series of
computer classes.
The
Library made an extensive process improvement in 2006 when it implemented a
Collection Maintenance plan. The
objective of the plan was to incorporate the following four activities into one
with well-trained and committed staff:
1. Shelving
2. Shelf
3. Straightening
4. Weeding
The
Library continues to provide a valuable service to the community by managing
the Greendale Community Calendar on the web.
This year the Library was featured as the Business of the Month at
Associated Bank and I had the opportunity to be the Parade Marshal in the
Village Days Parade.
The
Library ended the year with a Town Hall Meeting in November. Ideas exchanged on that date will be
incorporated into the Library’s
The
Library could not achieve any of its objectives without the support of the
Village Board, the Village Manager and the Village Hall staff, the other
departments with the Village, the Library Board and the Greendale Public
Library Foundation, Inc. But the
greatest praise should be reserved for the dedicated employees who staff the
Library each day with a friendly gusto that represents the Village well. Thanks to all.
Sincerely,
Gary
