EMILY "LEE" SCHMELING
Whereas, Emily Schmeling, affectionally known to all her friends at the Greendale Public Library as “Lee,” represents the best qualities of a volunteer; Whereas, Lee has served the Library as our volunteer Volunteer Co-coordinator; Whereas, Lee has shelf read every fiction section hundreds of times in her volunteer career and knows all the order of all the books by heart, including the color of their covers; Whereas, Lee has straightened the magazine collection to the point where customers come to our library because the magazines are so well organized; Whereas, Lee has nursed the plant life within the library so there is a homey touch to the building; Whereas, “Grandma Lee” has endeared herself to hundreds of children by preparing many thousands of duck bills, rabbit ears and turkey tails and helping with our library story times; Whereas, her commitment to the Library remains endless. Now, Therefore, Be it Hereby Resolved that The Greendale Public Library Foundation, Incorporated, The Friends of the Greendale Public Library, and the staff of the Greendale Public Library express our deepest appreciation to Emily Schmeling for her years of service to the Greendale Public Library; Furthermore, Be It Hereby Resolved that Emily Schmeling be recognized as the first recipient of The Footnote Award from the Greendale Public Library Foundation, Incorporated, in recognition of her work as a volunteer at the Greendale Public Library.
