    THE YOUTH COLLECTIONS

    Books – Collections of fiction and nonfiction books are provided for a variety of interests and reading levels. Books may be checked out for a three-week loan period.

    Board Books- Board books have thick pages that are easy for young children to use. Many board books are small in size making them easy for little hands to hold.

    Picture Books-Picture books are great for family sharing. The pictures on the pages are a very important part of the story. Almost all picture books also contain text.

    Beginning Reader Fiction-Books with large type and controlled vocabulary are meant for beginning readers. This collection is recommended for kindergarten through second grade reading levels.

    Beginning Reader Nonfiction-Factual information in an easy to read format is provided in the beginning reader nonfiction collection. Learn about animals, transportation, plants, travel, famous people and many more topics.

    Youth Paperbacks-Series and non-series paperbacks are shelved for browsing for reading levels grade three and above.

    Youth Fiction-The youth fiction collection provides mystery, adventure, historical, classic, fantasy, science fiction and contemporary stories for reading levels grade three and above.

    Youth Nonfiction-The youth nonfiction collection is intershelved with the adult nonfiction collection and provides information on a large variety of topics including science, arts, sports, history and biographies.

    Young Adult Paperback-Series and non-series paperbacks are shelved for easy browsing for young adult readers.

    Young Adult Fiction-The young adult fiction collection provides mystery, adventure, historical, classic, fantasy, horror and contemporary stories for young adults.

    Magazines-Magazines (except for the newest issue) may be checked out for a 7 day loan period.

    Youth Magazines-Back issues of magazines are kept for three years.

    Young Adult Magazines-Back issues of magazines are kept for three years.

    Videos-Youth videos may be checked out for a 7 day loan period.

    Youth Videos-Fiction and nonfiction youth videos are available.

    Youth DVDs--New DVDs circulate for seven days while the remaining DVDs can be checked out for seven days.

    Books on Tape-Youth audiocassettes are checked out for a 3 week loan period.

    Youth Audio Book Compact Discs -A listing of the audio CD book collection is available by clicking here.

    Kits-Kits may be checked out for a 3 week loan period.

    Youth Kits-A youth kit includes a book and cassette.

    Youth CD’s-The youth CD collection contains music CDs for children.

    CD-ROMs-CD-ROMs may be checked out for a 7 day loan period.

    Youth CD-ROMs-Educational and entertainment CD-ROMs are available for youth and their families.
