MINUTES

 

DATE:  December 13, 2006

 

 

President Hegge called the meeting of the Greendale Public Library Board of Trustees to order at 8:05 a.m.

 

Present:  Cooley, Hegge, Hoffman, Jaet.

Also Present:    Gary Warren Niebuhr, Library Director

Joann Guendel, President, Greendale Public Library Foundation, Inc.

Jan Meyers, Secretary

Don Bauer, Fund Raising Chair

Linda Thomas, Publicity Chair

Kim Smazal, Decorating Chair

John Binder, Past President

Lori Korek, Past Membership Chair

 

Library Director Niebuhr stated that the Agenda for this meeting had been published in compliance with the Open Meetings Law.

 

President Hegge read the following resolutions into the record.

 

The Greendale Public Library Board of Trustees

 

Resolution

 

Whereas, Kitty Goyette represents the best qualities of a volunteer;

 

Whereas, Kitty Goyette became a member of the Board of Directors of the Greendale Public Library Foundation, Inc., in 2003 and served until 2006;

 

Whereas, Kitty Goyette served as the Chairperson of the Publicity Committee from 2003 until 2006;

 

Whereas, her commitment to the Library remains endless.

 

Now, Therefore, Be it Hereby Resolved

that the Greendale Public Library Board of Trustees express our deepest appreciation to Kitty Goyette for her years of service to the Greendale Public Library;

Whereas, Lori Korek served as the Chairperson of the Membership Committee from 2003 until 2006;

 

Whereas, her commitment to the Library remains endless.

that the Greendale Public Library Board of Trustees express our deepest appreciation to Lori Korek for her years of service to the Greendale Public Library;

Whereas, John Binder represents the best qualities of a volunteer;

 

Whereas, John Binder became a member of the Board of Directors of the Greendale Public Library Foundation, Inc., in 1988 and served until 1993;

 

Whereas, John Binder served as the Secretary of the Greendale Public Library Foundation, Inc., from 1989 until 1993;

 

Whereas, John Binder returned as a member of the Board of Directors of the Greendale Public Library Foundation, Inc., in 2000 and served until 2006;

 

Whereas, John Binder served as the Secretary of the Greendale Public Library Foundation, Inc., from 2002 until 2003;

 

Whereas, John Binder served as the President of the Greendale Public Library Foundation, Inc., from 2004 until 2006;

 

Whereas, John Binder’s leadership and organizational skills were utilized to promote library service, fund raise, create and maintain programming for the library; 

 

Whereas, his commitment to the Library remains endless.

 

Now, Therefore, Be it Hereby Resolved

that the Greendale Public Library Board of Trustees express our deepest appreciation to John Binder for his years of service to the Greendale Public Library;

Past President Binder thanked the Board for its support during his term.  President Guendel summarized the current planning process of the Foundation.

Trustee Cooley moved, Trustee Hoffman seconded approval of the November 15, 2006, minutes.

 

Ayes:  Cooley, Hegge, Hoffman, Jaet.

Noes:  None.

 

VOUCHERS

 

Trustee Jaet moved, Trustee Hoffman seconded approval of the vouchers for November, 2006, in the amount of $4,798.71.

 

Ayes:  Cooley, Hegge, Hoffman, Jaet.

Noes:  None.

 

The revenues were noted.

 

The Clerk Treasurer’s report was noted.

 

CITIZEN’S COMMENTS

 

None.

 

GREENDALE PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION, INC., MONTHLY REPORT

 

Trustee Cooley reported on funding issues. 

 

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

 

Trustee Cooley moved, Trustee Jaet seconded, a motion to approve the 2007 budget in the amount of $464,304 as presented.

 

Ayes:  Cooley, Hegge, Hoffman, Jaet.

Noes:  None.

 

The review of the Library Director is due to the Village Manager on January 19th.  A closed session will be added to the January Board meeting for discussion purposes and a special meeting of the Board in closed session will be held on the 17th at 8:30 a.m.

 

The Director reviewed the first meeting of the Building Committee.
