Village Hall Update for December 6
December 04, 2010 | Posted by Todd Michaels, Village
Manager
It has been another busy two weeks in Greendale. A
public hearing on December 1 on a proposed Tax
Incremental Finance District for a portion of
Southridge Mall was well attended and provided
community members a chance to learn more about the
project, ask questions and express their opinions.
You can find more information about the project below
or click here. Both the Holiday
Tree Lighting ceremony and “Dickens of a
Christmas” events drew crowds in historic
downtown Greendale as the holiday season is now
in full swing.

Price Reduced for Influenza Vaccine
Flu vaccine is available at the Greendale Health Department at a reduced price of $25 for adults and $5 for children 18 years of age and younger. The flu vaccine is recommended for everyone six months of age and older.
This is a good time to get a flu shot as flu activity is currently low. Timing of flu activity is unpredictable and can vary from season to season. Most commonly it peaks in January or February but the seasonal flu can occur as late as May.
Call the Health Department at 423-2110 to schedule an appointment.
DPW to Use All Natural, Anti-Icing Road Treatment
The Department of Public Works has announced that the Village is now capable of pre-treating road salt with GeoMelt 55. GeoMelt 55 is a liquid, all natural, non-chloride product and will help improve road conditions during winter snow and ice events and reduce the amount of chlorides used by the DPW.
When winter conditions call for enhancing the performance of road salt due to extremely cold temperatures, GeoMelt 55 will be applied to bulk road salt to achieve improved melting at lower temperatures and create a barrier on the road surface that will help to prevent additional ice formation.
GeoMelt 55 is a byproduct of processing sugar beets into refined sugar and retains the color and a slight odor of molasses. Please be aware that GeoMelt 55 treated salt has a tan/brown appearance and should not be confused with a sand/salt mix.
