October 19 Village Board Meeting Review
The Village Board considered a number of items at their October 19 meeting. The Village Manager presented his 2011 Recommended Budget. He is proposing a 1.7% tax levy increase for next year. It is also important to note that the actual amount and percentage increases paid by individual property owners is dependent upon how much their property values changed. It is anticipated that most residential properties will see an increase of 2.6% on their December tax bill. For more information on the 2011 Recommended Budget, please click here. The Village will be holding a Budget Listening Session on November 11. More information about the Budget Listening Session is posted below.
The department heads also presented their monthly reports to the Board. The Board met in closed session to discuss contract negotiations with the Village’s represented employees and economic development efforts in the Southridge Mall area. We are hopeful that redevelopment plans will be announced soon.
November 2 Village Board Meeting Preview
On Tuesday, November 2, the Village Board will consider several items. They will begin discussing the creation of a Traditional Neighborhood Development Ordinance as required under State law. They will review the existing development review process and consider adopting a streamlined process that encourages the use of traditional neighborhood development principles that do not create a disincentive to the use of the ordinance. This item will be referred to the Plan Commission for their review and consideration and will then be acted on at a future meeting of the Village Board. The Board will review the Village’s financial status with the Clerk-Treasurer and will meet in closed session to discuss contract negotiations with the Village’s represented employees and economic development efforts in the Southridge Mall area.
Public Invited to Attend 2011 Budget Work Session
On Thursday, November 11, the Village Board of Trustees will conduct the final Committee of the Whole Budget Work Session to review the Village’s 2011Budget. This session will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Board Room of Village Hall.
