Your bi-weekly news update from the Village of Greendale including important announcements, a look back at recent events and a look forward at the upcoming events in Greendale, Wisconsin. Village Board Meeting in Review
At the April 16, 2024 Board meeting the Board approved the following items:

  • The purchase of a new patrol truck chassis for the Department of Public Works.
  • A resolution authorizing the issuance of $4,270,000 general obligation promissory notes for the 2024 and 2025 Capital Improvement projects.
  • A quote to replace the Hose Tower flooring with an epoxy chip floor.
  • An amendment to the fee schedule to update Health Department fees.
  • Special event permit requests from Greendale Park and Recreation for the Hallowings event and the Halloween parade.
  • The quote for the 4th of July fireworks vendor.

May 7, 2024 Village Board Meeting Preview
The Board will consider approving:

  • To have staff move forward with a Public Service Commission rate case application for the water utility.
  • To purchase two self-checkout kiosks for the Greendale Public Library, as included in the 2024 Budget.
  • A quote for repairs to exterior bricks at Village Hall.
  • A class C wine license application from Vintage 38 to serve wine at the Whitnall Beer Garden.
  • The 2024 Committee and Board appointments.
  • An ordinance to require that all delinquent taxes, assessments, fees, etc. are paid prior to a license or permit being issued.
  • An ordinance to the remove the Greendale Historic Commission due to the duties of that Commission being done by the Greendale Historical Society and the Plan Commission.
  • A policy establishing guidelines for issuing Village President proclamations.
The Village Manager will also meet in closed session to discuss the property at 6190 Loomis Road and intergovernmental agreements for police and fire services during the Republican National Convention.  

Prior to the Regular Board meeting there will be a Public Works Committee meeting beginning at 5:00 pm.  The agenda may be found here.

Announcements:
Health Department Reminder! Fight the bite! Ticks can spread illnesses like Lyme disease. Don’t let a tick make you sick. In Wisconsin, ticks are most active from May to November, but you should use caution throughout the year.  When enjoying time outdoors, be aware of ticks and learn how to protect yourself. Clean and Green Day - Saturday May 11, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm, Daffodil Park - The Greendale Health Department, Department of Public Works, and Children's Garden are teaming up for a day dedicated to making our town the Healthiest, Happiest, Cleanest, and Greenest it can be! 🌱 Celebrate Mother's Day weekend by getting your hands dirty in the garden - the perfect activity for all kids in Greendale! 🌷 Help us plant the Children's Garden and the Annual Greendale Arbor Day Tree while learning about the importance of being outdoors and understanding where our food comes from.

But wait, there's more! 🎉 This year, courtesy of DPW, we are introducing a special "Build Your Own Hanging Basket" activity, perfect for creating the ultimate flower-loving mom present! Plus, enjoy a variety of fun activities including crafts, demos, and games.


Residential Paper Shredding Event - Saturday May 18th, 8:00 am - 9:30 am - Municipal Parking Lot, Parking Street - The Village of Greendale, DPW, and Park and Recreation will be providing Greendale residents (household only-no commercial) the opportunity to bring paper documents for secure and environmentally-responsible on-site destruction. Each Greendale household will be allowed 2 banker-size boxes (10x12x15 inches) full of documents. Boxes will be given back to homeowner. Must bring a valid driver's license listing Greendale resident or current utility/tax bill listing Greendale residency.
